The endgame mode added in 1.4, and it's permanent. Each season gives you three cycles of three stages, and every stage runs on Normal, Hard or Brutal with its own team. The important part: all the Oroberyl is secured on Normal. Higher difficulties only raise the stars that set your season title.

Echoes of War is 1.4's permanent challenge mode. Each season brings three cycles, and each cycle opens three stages of timed combat, each with its own mechanic that turns the fight on its head. Every stage runs on Normal, Hard or Brutal, and you bring an independent team to each one: what you field in one doesn't constrain the others. The premium reward doesn't depend on difficulty, all the Oroberyl comes from Normal. Hard and Brutal are prestige: they raise the stars that decide your season title.

The 1.6 seasons

Version 1.6 opens two new seasons, Phantasia and Fervor. Each keeps rotating existing stages and adds three new ones, with updated enemies and stage combinations and rewards such as Oroberyl.

  • Phantasia: from the "Sanctuary of Ink" version update.
  • Fervor: from Nov. 5, 2026 (server time).
  • The exact times, the new stages' names and their mechanics aren't in the official sources.

The 1.5 seasons

Version 1.5 brings two back-to-back seasons. Each has 3 cycles of 3 stages: it rotates existing stages and adds 3 new ones. Clearing all the new stages on Normal grants rewards including Oroberyl ×300.

  • Season of Virtuality: from the version update until Sept. 24, 2026, 11:59 (server time).
  • Season of Illusion: from Sept. 24, 2026, 12:00 (server time) until the next version update maintenance.
  • The new stages' mechanics aren't in the official sources.

How it works

◷

Three cycles a season

Each cycle opens three stages and rotates on reset. Stages come back in later cycles, so a reward you missed isn't gone for good.

★

Normal 1★ · Hard 2★ · Brutal 3★

A stage's rating is the difficulty you cleared. The cycle max is 9★: three stages at 3★ each.

◈

[Lustrous] on Brutal

Clearing on Brutal while hitting the bonus objectives adds the [Lustrous] boost to your rating. Land it on all THREE stages of a cycle and your season title becomes [Lustrous].

⚿

Honor rewards, one time only

Honor rewards land once: the first time you hit 1★, 2★ or 3★ on a stage. And they're yours for good, neither the next cycle nor a new season touches them.

How your title is decided

Your season Final Rating is the highest Total Rating you posted in any single cycle: not the sum, not the last one. That number sets the title, with steps at 1★, 3★, 5★, 7★ and 9★. Land [Lustrous] on all three stages of one cycle and the season title becomes [Lustrous]. The Battle Review keeps your ratings and the team comps you used on each stage for the 6 most recent seasons.

  • Your best cycle counts, so you can whiff an entire cycle without dropping the title you already locked in.
  • Oroberyl doesn't ride on the title: Normal hands it over in full.
  • Brutal's bonus objectives are the only road to [Lustrous].

Previous season (1.4): Season of Recalling

The 1.4 season, now over (Americas/Europe server dates). The mechanics of the new Cycle II and III stages were never confirmed in official sources.

Cycle I · Jul 15 – 23

Bonecrushers, an Arts Infliction check and the Skydrummer.

  • Scars of Landbreaking Bonecrusher Vanguard, Arsonist and Executioner + Heavy Ram. Defeating enemies grants stat buffs, but healing is restricted to HP Treatment. Brutal bonus: clear within 3 min.
  • Silver Watercutter After applying Arts Infliction 20 times, all your operators gain Final DMG Dealt +50%. Brutal bonus: clear within 3 min.
  • Howling of Undying Beasts Skydrummer boss: it won't enter its Enraged state, but it comes with +50 elemental resistance. Brutal bonus: clear within 3 min.

Cycle II · Jul 23 – 30

Two new stages and one repeat.

  • Skirmishers' Æthillu New stage. Mechanic to be confirmed.
  • Silver Watercutter Repeats from Cycle I.
  • Age of Axes New stage. Mechanic to be confirmed.

Cycle III · Jul 30 – Aug 9

Season close: one new, two returning.

  • Pulverizing Ammunition New stage. Mechanic to be confirmed.
  • Scars of Landbreaking Repeats from Cycle I.
  • Age of Axes Repeats from Cycle II.

Grab the Oroberyl and breathe

If you're only here for the resources, clear the stages on Normal and you're done: the full Oroberyl is already yours. Hard and Brutal add stars and the Honor rewards for your first 2★ and 3★, but they don't change the Oroberyl. And since the Final Rating keeps your best cycle, you can raise the difficulty once your roster is ready, with no calendar breathing down your neck.

In the 1.4 season, Brutal was a DPS check

In Season of Recalling (1.4), the Brutal bonus was clearing all three Cycle I stages within 3 minutes, at a recommended Lv 90: what stopped you was damage per second, not staying alive. And each stage took a different crutch away: on Scars of Landbreaking you only healed through HP Treatment, and the Skydrummer in Howling of Undying Beasts showed up with +50 elemental resistance in exchange for never going Enraged. The official sources don't detail the bonuses of the 1.5 seasons.
